This highly anticipated sequel to Titanfall, developed by Respawn Entertainment, performed better than expected. It came out right around the same time as Battlefield 1, and Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare, and yet still managed to gain a footing. Titanfall 2 is a real contender in the 1st person shooter franchise. With stunning off the wall action, fine tuned graphics, and a one of a kind campaign, this game really brought it all.

Now you may think that I’m a super huge Titanfall fan, and you would be right. Titanfall has become my favorite shooter franchise. If you didn’t know, most of the folks at Respawn Entertainment were responsible for some of the best Call of Duty games. Something amazing happens when you mix a game like Call of Duty with a game like Mech Warrior.

This sequel brought with it the first real Titanfall Campaign. In this campaign the player is taken from being an infantry unit to being a fully fledged Titan pilot within minutes. You are then thrust into the thick of it as you must fight to finish the mission at hand. The combat is a mix of traditional 1st person, and piloting a titan. Titan’s move quickly and pack a huge punch. Titan’s have a mind of their own and can fight alongside you. The only downside is that they are less effective without you, and if they die you lose. Your personal Titan companion is named BT.

The game is divided pretty evenly between traditional combat and Titan combat. I felt that Titans were well balanced. They can ignore ground troops and trample smaller enemies. The only match for a Titan is another Titan. That being said there is a huge variety of enemies throughout the game. As you play through you can unlock additional loadouts for BT, some best suited to specific situations.

The story was particularly interesting. It never goes into much detail about how everything started, but you get the feeling that you are part of a rebellion against an empire. Right around the middle of the game, you end up time jumping on command to avoid obstacles and solve simple on the go puzzles. I heard it mentioned that some people felt it was like Portal in that aspect. My favorite part of the game was the ending. There were some amazing aerial fight scenes, and some epic combat moments. I’ll stop there because I don’t want to spoil anything. I highly recommend this game to any shooter fan.
