Dwayne Johnson fights a Skyscraper.

This movie opens with a bit of a downer. Officer Will Sawyer is infiltrating a house with his team when a bomb goes off. There is a gruesome hospital scene that follows, and then the movie flashes forward. We then find out that Will Sawyer , played by Dwayne Johnson, lost one of his feet in the explosion. He is also married with two children, and runs his own security company.

When Will Sawyer gets hired to check the security on the worlds tallest building, he sees is as his big break and gladly accepts. His family is invited to join him and spend the night in this beautiful new skyscraper. Little do they know that there is a group of criminals planning to burn down the building.

The rest of the movie consists of Dwayne Johnson (Will Sawyer) battling his way back to, into, and through the Skyscraper to save his wife and kids.

The story was a bit rocky, but Dwayne Johnson saved the day.

I found the plot and premise of the movie to be a bit lack luster. It was rather straight forward, predictable and bland. With that said, I only rented this movie because Dwayne Johnson was on the cover. He was the only saving grace for this movie, and probably the only reason anyone even knows it exists.

Skyscraper was a fine 1-time watch. It delivers as a cheap rental or a bargain bin pickup. I wouldn’t rush out to see it, but it was a fine film.

On a more positive note, Skyscraper had some really cool moments. There were some good camera angles, some interesting stunt scenes, and it ended happily. The movie delivers on it’s name. Most of it takes place in the Skyscraper, and the front cover says it all. There are tons of jumping, swinging, and dangling scenes to keep watchers on the edge of their seats.
