Betting, or Gambling, has long be a favorite activity of people all around the world. In the past couple decades though, the internet has evolved the world of gambling. People can now play their favorite card games online, and can even bet on various sports, but that’s not what this article is about. Internet Gambling has more recently made the jump to eSports.

eSports have taken the world by storm.
The most popular eSports game in the world is Fortnite. But you may have also heard of games like League of Legends, DOTA 2, Starcraft, PUBG, Starcraft, Hearthstone, and even Pokemon.
All of these games are played by millions on a daily basis and have an even larger fan following. They all hold tournaments with cash prizes and all players to compete with each other across the world. When games like League of Legends are televised they often have enough viewers to qualify as an Olympic Sport.
Epic Games announced earlier this year that the World Championships for Fortnite will feature a prize pool of 100 Million dollars. That is absolutely incredible, especially since most game keep prize pools around the 1 million mark. Pro Gaming has never been more lucrative, and there are tons of games in which players can make a living.
Betting on your favorite eSports team just took on a new meaning.
“Gambling is the wagering of money or something of value (referred to as “the stakes”) on an event with an uncertain outcome, with the primary intent of winning money or material goods. Gambling thus requires three elements be present: consideration, risk (chance), and a prize.” – Wikipedia
“Gambling is also a major international commercial activity, with the legal gambling market totaling an estimated $335 billion in 2009.” – Wikipedia
There are a variety of online websites popping up which now allow players to place bets on their favorite eSports from the comfort of their home. Whether you want to bet for or against your home team is up to you.
