Story Synopsis for Raya and the Last Dragon

Raya and the Last Dragon is set long ago, in a distant realm called Kumandra. 500 years before the events of the movie, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. It was then that dark monsters known as the Druun emerged from the Earth and attacked both humans and dragons. In an epic last attempt to save humanity, the dragons sacrificed themselves.

Humans then spent the next 500 years bickering and fighting over the last remnants of dragon magic. When a fight results in the last dragon magic being broken, the evil Druun return to once again devour humanity. Raya sets out to find the resting place of the last dragon Sisu.

Raya finds Sisu, and the two team up to fix a magical dragon orb in hopes of defeating the Druun once again.

Reviewing Raya and the Last Dragon

My entire family really enjoyed Raya and the Last Dragon. I personally found it to be entertaining, creative and well made. The animation was very real looking at times, which I found to be a cool choice for the film. The voice actors were perfectly chosen for all the characters, and Raya was an instantly likeable Disney Princess.

I sat down to watch Raya and the Last Dragon without knowing much about it, and I liked it even more than I thought I would. My wife and two young boys thought the movie was awesome. I only have good things to say about Raya and the Last Dragon.

I had heard that the Druun might be considered a little too dark for some children, based on the fact that the Druun steal people’s souls. But the soul-stealing portion was not focused on, and it looked more like the purple ghost-like Druun just washed over people turning them into stone.

My favorite part of the movie has to be Sisu, voiced by Awkwafina. The voice for Sisu completely surprised me, and the dragon character was absolutely hilarious throughout the entire film.

Raya and the Last Dragon told a good story. It taught a lesson about working together and trusting others. It had a lot of cool action scenes with sword fights and dragons. It was light-hearted and funny throughout; it even ended happily ever after.

I highly recommend watching Raya and the Last Dragon. It is worth paying extra to watch early on DisneyPlus, or even seeing in theaters.
