A love story with monsters.

Love and Monsters was quite funny. Just from the title alone, I figured it would be an action comedy. The story starts out with a brief explanation of how the world has become infested with giant size insects and reptiles. Humans have been forced underground, and are living in small communities.

Joel, played by Dylan O’Brien, lives in one such community. He is very much in love with a girl from his past, and so he leaves his small community in an attempt to reach hers. Along the way he encounters giant mutated frogs, snails and insects that try to eat him.

Overall thoughts on Love and Monsters

The film reminded me of older black and white monster horror films. Love and Monsters had some suspenseful moments, but at the same time it was apparent that the scare was going to be a giant bug or mutant reptile.

Love and Monsters has several good themes, including being brave and showing kindness. The movie was pretty clean all around, and probably safe for older kids to watch under adult supervision.

Not only will I watch Love and Monsters again, but I will probably buy it as well.
