Netflix’s Persuasion based on Jane Austen’s Novel
Persuasion is a brand new Netflix film based on the original story by author Jane Austen. It is set in the year 1815 and follows a young woman named Anne Elliot, who finds herself persuaded not to marry a man due to his lack of title and money.
Eight years pass and Captain Frederick Wentworth returns with enough status and money to marry. Will Anne get a second chance at love? Does Captain Wentworth still have feelings for her after all these years?
If you’ve read the book, then you know how it ends. Either way, the movie Persuasion is a good movie. It was fun to watch and entertaining enough to watch again someday.
Overall thoughts on the movie Persuasion
I liked the movie Persuasion. It is definitely your typical 1800’s romantic love story. Persuasion has more comedy than you might expect, and had me smiling most of the film. If you enjoy old fashion love stories like Pride and Prejudice, then you will likely enjoy Persuasion as well.
The acting was solid. The story was modernized a bit, and it had a good deal of humor added. The movie was rather light-hearted and featured a happy ending.
I recommend giving Persuasion a watch if you happen to have Netflix.
