Summary & Thoughts:

Between PC and XboxOne, I have played a bunch of battlefront this weekend. It is a blast to play. By day 4 of Beta testing, I found the game to be very entertaining. The first couple days though were not so much fun. The maps are very open, so I found it hard to find safe places to get my bearing. I guess I expected more “Battlefield” like maps, since DICE’s name is on the cover. But the maps are extremely wide open, with very few buildings to hide in. It is important to note however, that only Hoth and Sullust were available for multiplayer, so perhaps the other maps are different. There is also loads of spawn killing, because spawning needs to be tweaked. I also found the aim sensitivity to be much too high. Aim/look sensitivity can be adjusted in the settings, and this helps a lot, but I feel that it should be lower by default. I found myself constantly passing the person I was trying to shoot when aiming down the scope.

I enjoyed the multiplayer by about my 10th match. By then I could actually stay alive for more than 5 seconds. The biggest things that helped me get the hang of the game, were turning down my look sensitivity, and playing some of the Tatooine single player survival mode. Getting dropped into a wide open map with dozens of other players can make the learning experience a bit rough. Perhaps though, this is only because I am 25, and maybe 15 year olds have a quicker reflexes.

The graphics are awesome! The Audio, albeit is a bit buggy, but it is really cool to hear. The game is amazing for being in Beta, but it doesn’t feel ready for launch. EA has one more month to get it ready, so hopefully they can smooth out the bugs, and polish the whole experience a bit. Battlefront has one really big thing going for it, and that is Star Wars. If it wasn’t a Star Wars game, then I wouldn’t even bother playing it. Star Wars is what makes it stand out among big names like Call of Duty, Rainbow 6, and Battlefield. Overall, I had a really fun time with beta. It may sound like I didn’t, but I really did enjoy it. I also look forward to buying Star Wars:Battlefront next month when it comes out.
