Summary & Thoughts:

The Good Dinosaur was not so good. The animation looked like Pixar, but the story wasn’t there. The movie starts with the hatching of a baby dinosaur named Arlo, and his two siblings. As he grows older, he struggles to fit in. He has trouble facing his fears, and gets picked on by his siblings. In an attempt to help his son, Arlo’s father takes him into the mountains to face his fears. On the way back, tragedy strikes as Arlo’s father is killed. Shortly after, Arlo meets a human boy, and the two are swept away down a river. They then wind up far from home. For the rest of the film, the two work together to face Arlo’s fears, and make it home.

Even though it sounds like a decent story, it takes a long time to unravel, and it spends way to much time on showing fear. Instead of developing the characters, and their relationship, the film spends its time on jump scenes with loud music. Arlo is always terrified of everything, and the music made my 2 year old child jump every 5 minutes. I ended up leaving the theater with him, because the whole film was comprised of Arlo falling down, screaming, and running. I do not recommend this movie to anyone, and consider it one of Pixar’s worst films ever.
