Adrift (2018) – Movie Review

I wanted to set this movie Adrift at Sea.

Seriously though, it wasn’t a bad movie, it was just a bit slow and sad for my taste. Adrift is a film about surviving at Sea. It follows two central characters, Tami and Richard, who fall in love during the first 20 minutes of the film. They then decide to take a job and sail a yacht from Australia to London. During the trip they are caught in a tropical storm / hurricane and the ship is extremely damaged. The rest of the movie focuses on their survival as they attempt to sail their broken boat to Hawaii.

Based on a true story with a surprising plot twist.

I’m not going to spoil this movie for you, but I will say that the plot twist is rather sad. I am not a huge fan of slow or sad films, so Adrift is not something that I ever want to watch again. Despite my distaste for the film, it actually had solid acting and writing. I don’t have anything bad to say about it, and I think that some people might get more enjoyment out of Adrift than I did.

With that said, I don’t recommend buying this movie, but I do recommend watching a trailer and potentially renting it. The movie had some rather interesting survival techniques and concepts. It made me think about what life would be like if I were stranded at Sea.
