Summary & Thoughts:
The movie Annie, is a remake of the 1982 film. More than a remake though, it is slightly re-imagined. There were some slight changes to subplots, and characters, but the overall story arc remains intact. A couple of the songs were kept original, and a few were modernized. The language, clothing, and setting were all brought up to date as well.
Without spoiling too much, the story follows a foster child named Annie. She is mistreated by her foster mom, but beloved by her small community of friends. One day she is yanked out of traffic to safety by a wealthy mayoral candidate named Will Stacks. Seeing the opportunity for a boost to his campaign, Will takes Annie in as a foster child. The film follows the two as they build a relationship and look for Annie’s parents.
Annie is a warm and heart felt story, which deserved a remake. It is a safe family movie, and enjoyable to many ages.
