A Jurassic Survival Game
Ark: Survival Evolved is a couple years old now, but still running strong. Several large game updates and expansions have been added to improve upon this already awesome game. The game is available through Steam for $29.99 USD, unless you catch it on sale. Soon after it was originally released it held the top selling spot for weeks. Today it is still a steam top seller and I find myself continuously coming back to it.
It’s classified as a “survival” and “exploration” game. After creating your own survivor, you are placed on a beach front of an island. There are jungles, mountains, rivers, and other beach fronts to explore. And as you venture forth, you will encounter a variety of challenges, from eating and drinking regularly, to temperature control. The goal is to SURVIVE!
Here’s the real kicker though… there are DINOSAURS! From pteranodons, to megladons, and T-Rex’s, they are all out to eat you! Even though there are dinosaurs roaming the island, the time period is not set to prehistoric. You will level up and learn to craft new advanced items as you play. Started with stone tools, and eventually working into machine guns, there are a variety of things you can make. You can even construct your own buildings.
That’s not all though. What if you could ride dinos? Well you can! You can tame, train, and ride dinos. You can swim, fly, and explore your way to survival in this epic adventure.
Ark: Survival Evolved supports private and official servers to play on, and allows you to move your survivor between them. I recommend playing with friends, as it is a challenging and quiet game to play solo. It is a make your own adventure sandbox style surviving game. The elements are intense and the dinosaurs fierce. I recommend Ark to anyone looking for a good time.
