Ashes of Kanaka is being developed by Dogwood Gaming
Ashes of Kanaka is a brand new cyberpunk rpg being built in Unreal Engine 5. The game is powered by grant winning artificial intelligence software that can create truly unique and relatable characters. Ashes of Kanaka will feature over 80 hours of gameplay, 15 playable classes, and more than 55 collectable party companions at launch.

“Ashes of Kanaka is a story of humanity’s struggle to survive. Earth has been completely destroyed by over harvesting and an unchecked population growth, and we now look to the stars for a new home. Our story begins several years after mankind’s first arrival on Kanaka. Civilization has grown; cities and towns can be found on every corner. The player wakes up in intensive care, under the watchful gaze of OASE (Order of the All Seeing Eye), an organization dedicated to keeping humanity safe and strong no matter the cost.” – Dogwood Gaming
Is Ashes of Kanaka a remake?
Ashes of Kanaka is indeed a remake. Dogwood Gaming published the original Ashes of Kanaka back in April of 2017. The original game was built with RPG Maker, and is a 2D side scrolling adventure. We don’t want to spoil too much of Ashes story, but if you want to see it for yourself, you can play the original game on Steam.
The new Unreal Engine 5 remake of Ashes of Kanaka is borrowing elements and story lines from the original, but will be expanding in some huge and very innovative ways. This is Dogwood Gaming’s biggest undertaking yet, as they work to bring the incredible world of Kanaka to life in UE5.
What platforms is it being developed for?
Ashes of Kanaka is currently being developed for PC, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and possibly even Nintendo Switch. The game is still very early on in the development cycle, but Dogwood Gaming hopes to have the first official game trailer and a playable demo released this June (2022).
