Summary & Thoughts:
I found Black Op’s III to be a great addition to the COD franchise. The fast action, the futuristic feel, and the wide range of abilities and weapons, will make any 1st person shooter fan feel right at home. A Co-Op campaign is a huge plus. Being able to play on the same console with a friend, is something many games seem to be leaving out lately. As fun as a shooter campaign is though, the online play is what Call of Duty is really about. Team up with friends, or play against them, either way you’ll have a blast.
I must say that I only dabbled in the campaign. What I played of it, seemed very well done. The game felt smooth and polished. The cut-scenes were intense, the action was fast, and the story kept rolling at a good pace. I am not a huge fan of military shooter campaigns, but if I was, this game would be a must buy. I would recommend this campaign to military shooter fans, but would warn parents against allowing their kids to play it. It is very violent, and includes torture scenes, burning bodies, and grotesque footage.
The online multiplayer is where I spent most of my time. It is absolutely outstanding. I would even go as far as to say, that this is THE BEST Call of Duty game I have ever played, and I have played most of them. In this new Black Ops game, players choose a class type. This class type has special abilities ranging from 1 shot bow & arrows, to duel wielding, to computer skills. On top of that is the regular weapon and load out customization that Call of Duty is famous for.
I really enjoyed the futuristic feel of the game. Running on walls, rocket jumping, and using advanced weapons was a refreshing twist. The multiplayer feels like a mix between the last few games, and Titanfall. The addition of swimming is freaking awesome as well. You can now go under water in multiplayer maps, and continue your killing spree. The whole experience feels like an action movie. Swimming out of a hotel fountain, into a grotto, then double jumping out, and running along the wall, really captures the super spy action feeling that so many shooters fail to get.
I would buy this game again, if I didn’t already own it. It makes for a fun time with friends, and allows for quick sit downs between doing daily chores. You can sit down, and hop right into a match with no delay. I recommend this game to all 18+ gamer’s who enjoy military shooters, and competitive multiplayer.
