A not so bright future…

Set in the year 2027, Deus Ex: Human Revolution puts you in the middle of a futuristic and dark looking world. With technology at its peak, scienceĀ is unlocking the secrets behind human augmentation. You get to play as Adam Jenson, the head of security for a biotech company called Sarif Industries. Shortly after you begin your adventure though you are mortally wounded. You get forcefully operated on and become a robo-cop of sorts. You obtain super human abilities. And in a world where people are divided on either hating or loving augmentations, you become an augmented human. As you progress through the story, you get swept up in an action packed adventure, and are forced to make choices that will affect mankind forever.

Deus Ex: HumanĀ RevolutionĀ is a fun, and exciting RPG. It can be played as a stealth game, or as a 1st person shooter. As you play, you gain XP and level up. As you level up, you get to choose which body parts to augment further. Do you want to be a slicer, a stealth operative, or a bullet tanking death machine? The game handles well, and the controls are mapped pretty decently by default. The graphics and sound are great, for the time it was made. It is a very fun play through, with light puzzle solving, and optional game paths.

A wide open world.

Parts of the game have a very open world feel to them. The main city you start in has tons of optional content and plenty of areas to explore. Later in the game you go to China, and these areas are very open too. You can poke your head into places you shouldn’t, and do things that get you in trouble. Human Revolution really does a great job of making the game world feel bigger than it actually is. Parts of the game are graphically violent, and there are a lot drug references. There is also plenty of cursing, so keep that in mind when purchasing this game. The game is a bit dated, but very fun to play still, and there is a new Deus Ex game coming out in 2016.

I have played through Deus Ex: Human Revolution a couple of times over the years, and think that it is a fun and unique RPG. I would recommend picking it up on Steam Sale next time it’s available.
