A fast paced 3rd person shooter battleground.

Fortnite is anĀ epic free to play game. See what I did there? The game play is styled after the infamous PUBG, where a large group of players are dropped into a battleground arena and forced to fight to the death. The game can be summed up as Minecraft meets The Hunger Games. Players can craft structures, collect weapons, and traverse the large sized map in an effort to be the last person standing.

What makes Fornite special?

Fortnite has a unique look to it. It has a very World of Warcraft cartoon art style. Like I mentioned above, it also allows players to quickly craft structures and adjust their surroundings. Almost every building is able to be demolished. The game is a work in progress, but players can currently craft floor panels, walls, and ramps. These structures can be crafted so quickly that players can jump off a mountain and assemble ramps under them as they fall. It’s a pretty cool thing to watch, and takes some time to get used to.

Squad, Duo, & Solo play options.

Epic Games has made some great games over the years. Fortnite is no exception. The game feels thought out, well made, and is surprisingly addictive. Players can que up with friends or solo, and the match maker will pair you up against the same. I personally enjoyed Duo and Solo play the best. Squad play can get a bit tricky and unnecessarily difficult unless you bring a 4 man team with you.

Players start each round by parachuting from a flying bus. You can drop quickly or glide with a parachute until you reach the ground. There are a decent amount of weapons to choose from. The map is filled with plenty of places to hide, and there are variety of pre-built buildings to explore. The game is in a good state and I look forward to seeing what Epic Games does with Fortnite.
