Summary & Thoughts:
I found Inside Out to be one of the most creative movies I have seen this year. The animation art was cool, the story was easy to follow, and the characters were fun to watch. My 2 year old sat right through the whole movie munching on popcorn, so I guess he liked it too.
The story starts out with the emotion Joy telling you about Riley. Riley is the young girl that Joy and the other emotions live inside. They help to guide her, and sort memories into types of emotion. When Riley’s family decides to move though, things go awry, and the emotions Joy and Sadness must team up to save Riley’s memories.
The story didn’t have any surprises to it, as I found it to be pretty straight forward. The movie was not drawn out at all, and it kept a great pace. The real imagination though, was the ideas and artwork behind the movie. The idea of memories being tied to emotions, and being stored like library books was pretty fascinating to watch. I would recommend this film as a family movie night, to anyone with young kids.
