Summary & Thoughts:
If you’ve ever played a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena), then you know what to expect when logging in to play League of Legends. It is a 5v5 match filled with NPC minions, AI turrets, and a base for each team. In the primary game mode (Summoner’s Rift), two teams compete for dominance over 3 paved lanes, and the jungles between them. The goal of the game is to destroy the enemy base.
As you slay creatures and take objectives, you gain XP and level up. As you level up, you gain new powers, and strengthen your abilities. LoL has over 100 champions to choose from, and each game allows you to pick a new one. Each game lasts approximately 20-40 minutes, with some lasting up to an hour. At the start of a match, you get to choose summoner spells, and starting stats.
LoL is played from a Top/Down perspective(birds-eye view). One of the great things about LoL is that it is completely free to play. You can download the game, open an account, and start playing as much as you like. F2P games are great, because there is no risk to trying them.
So how does LoL make money? They host world wide championships, and televise tons of games. They also have an in game store to purchase customizations for champions, wards, and more. There is no advantage to spending money, besides purely cosmetic reasons.
I have played LoL for over a year now, and enjoy it. I get the most fun playing with friends over voice chat. I would recommend this game to any moba players, or folks just looking to have a good time PvP’n.
