As of 1/20/16, Season 6 Ranked has started!
What is Ranked? Ranked Solo/Duo/Group is the end game for league of legends. After your account hits level 30, you can venture into Ranked games. As you play ranked, your wins gain you LP(League Points). These League Points determine your ranking. The current rankings are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Challenger. Professional League of Legend’s players are always ranked in the Challenger tier. Now before you get to excited, it is important to know that losing games will take away your League Points. So it’s not as easy as it sounds to rank up.
Never played Ranked? To start playing ranked, you simple join a ranked match. After playing 10 placement matches, you are given a ranking. If you have played ranked in a previous season, you will still need to play 10 placement matches, but your new ranking will be greatly influenced by your previous season.
So what’s new this year? A new champion select has just been released. Players can now select their primary and secondary roles prior to a match. The matchmaker will que you with a team that has room for you. Later this year, Riot promises Clubs, Parties, a new game launcher, and more. With new role select, champion select, and tons of other sweet updates, this year looks to be amazing. I have already noticed less toxicity. People seem happier, and games are going smoother.
The Esports scene looks great too! The first week of matches has concluded, and the games are more competitive than ever. NA LCS looks to be a fun season. We have new teams, new players, and even a female player joining the ranks. If you haven’t been watching, you should start!
