A long awaited sequel to the original 1964 Mary Poppins.
Decades after her original visit, the magical Mary Poppins returns to help the Banks siblings and Michael’s children through a difficult time in their lives. This movie is a sequel to the original Mary Poppins film released in 1964. Mary Poppins Returns can best be described as a fun imaginative adventure that is safe for all ages. It makes for a whimsical date night movie or a fun family movie night choice.
Recapturing the magic in Mary Poppins Returns.
Disney hired Rob Marshall to direct Mary Poppins Returns. Emily Blunt played the role of Mary Poppins and was joined by co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda. Lin Manuel played the returning role of Jack, a boy from the first film, who is now grown up and working the streets of London as a lamp lighter. The two stars did a fantastic job and the movie felt like a true continuation of the original film.
Having just watched the original Mary Poppins for the first time, I had both movies fresh in my mind. I cannot imagine a better movie, for what this one hoped to accomplish. It really recaptured the magic of Mary Poppins. From the childhood home, to the crazy neighbors, to the out of this world magic, Mary Poppins really has returned in this latest story.
I recommend watching this movie and even adding it to your collection. It is well worth the watch and a safe bet for any movie night.
