Out of the Glade and into the desert.
After watching The Maze Runner, I was looking forward to seeing where the series went. I never read the books, so I figured it would be something like the movie Divergent. It was nothing like Divergent, but in a good way. It definitely follows it’s own unique plot and I hear that the third installment takes it even further down it’s own path.
After escaping the Glade in the first film, Thomas and his friends are “rescued” by a militaristic group who won’t identify themselves. The world outside the maze is a barren and scorched desert. Lightning storms are rampant and most of the human population has been afflicted by a virus. The virus mutates humans into a zombie like form, and those not afflicted have gone on living in a dog-eat-dog post apocalyptic world.
The Scorch Trials is an exciting ride.
The movie is quite exciting and very action packed. There are a few jump scenes and some interesting plot twists. The acting is good and the movie keeps a good pace. I enjoyed the film a lot, even though I hear it is extremely off from the books. I look forward to seeing where Thomas and his Glade friends wind up in the end.
