You’re Welcome!

This latest film from Disney & Pixar is set in the Polynesian islands and tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief. Being next in line to lead, she must come to terms with fulfilling her role on the island, but when trouble strikes Moana feels called to the ocean. Upon hearing about an ancient legend involving the demigod Maui, she realizes that the only way to save her island is to venture out and restore the heart of Te Fiti.

This movie has all the makings of a great Pixar film. Music, animation, and a cast of lovable characters make this movie an instant classic. Moana is a must see, if for no other reason than to see Dwayne Johnson sing a solo. Both of my young children enjoyed this movie, and I have yet to hear anyone speak poorly of it. My wife and I even enjoyed watching it by ourselves. This may be one of the best Disney & Pixar films to come out in a long time.

Boat Snack!

A Disney movie wouldn’t be complete without animal sidekicks, and this film brought along some very interesting ones. Moana and Maui are accompanied by a small chicken who continuously seems oblivious to what is happening around him. Moana also has a pet pig, who does not play any major role, but is sure to sell like hotcakes when made available as a stuffed animal.

The film revolved around Moana and Maui. Their relationship reminded me a lot of Aladdin and Genie. Aside from the island tribe, and a singing crab, these were actually the only two voiced characters. I didn’t notice until the movie was over, but it seemed to go by really fast. Perhaps I just enjoyed this particular animated adventure more than others. I highly recommend this film, and categorize it as a must see for all ages.
