A Diamond in the rough.
For those who don’t know what Pokemon is, it’s a top down RPG where you explore and collect monsters. You use these monsters to fight. As you battle them they earn XP and level up. They also grow stronger and learn new abilities. Your mission in these games is usually to save the world, and then fill your Pokedex by seeing one of every kind of Pokemon in the region.
As the first RPG Pokemon game for the Nintendo DS this game sold millions. It was the first peak at the direction of the Pokemon franchise with a touchscreen. Pokemon Diamond & Pearl didn’t disappoint either. Taking advantage of the second touch screen allowed players to quickly change between pokemon and use items. They also added a map, clock, and party overview to the lower screen. Other than that, much of the game remains the same, but that’s a good thing! As a fresh and new version of the older gen games, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are fantastic additions to the franchise.
Featuring over 100 brand new Pokemon!
With over a hundred new Pokemon to catch, including two new legendary ones, this game will keep you busy for hours on end. It also has a variety of missions and other things to do after you beat the initial game. One of the greatest things about Pokemon games though is the ability to trade and duel other real people over the internet. This adds a whole new layer to the game by allowing you to carry your Pokemon over to the next game. As deceivingly simple as battling seems, there is also a deep stat crunching meta game under it all. Pokemon has a large and loyal esport scene with world championships every year.
Whether you like to explore, battle, collect, or breed pokemon, this game lets you do it all. Pokemon Pearl released side by side with Pokemon Diamond, and they are mirror games. Pokemon games often come in twos, and offer a slightly different version of each other. There is no reason to buy both unless you really want to.
Anyway you slice it Pokemon Diamond is a great game. It will definitely hit the spot if your looking for an RPG adventure/collecting game. I would recommend Pokemon to gamers and players of all ages.
