Let’s Go Pikachu is a trip down memory lane.
These two games are being toted as remakes of the original Pokemon Yellow Version. The Pokemon world has never been brighter or prettier, as the Kanto region is now in full 3D. This time around players can choose between Pikachu or Eevee as their starter Pokemon. Whichever you choose will be with you throughout your adventure, regardless of it you choose to keep it in your party of 6.
Aside from this game being a remake of the original story and the Kanto region, Pokemon Let’s Go brings an all new catching mechanic to the main series. The well known hit game Pokemon GO introduced people to the idea of physically throwing Pokeballs to catch Pokemon, and this game brings that feature into the handheld series.
Competitive Changes in Pokemon Let’s Go.
Battling Pokemon remains the same for the most part. But Pokemon Let’s go has removed held items and passive abilities from the game. IV’s (a Pokemon’s base stats) remain the same and EV’s have been replaced with something called AV’s. Instead of gaining stats from feinted Pokemon, players can now feed candies to their Pokemon to increase stats.
I’m sorry if this last paragraph confused you. If you are not into the meta game of Pokemon, then these changes do not affect you. Pokemon is played as an eSport all around the world, and most Pokemon main series games allow players to breed and battle each other as part of the post game content. This game however leans more on PVE for post game content, like the trailer featured “Master Trainer Battles”.
Although this game has online and local co-op play, it isn’t quite to the same level as past Pokemon games. This has been leading hardcore Pokemon fans to refer to this game as a spin-off from the main series. Fear not though, as the “main series” is due to return in Fall of 2019 with an all new Pokemon adventure on the Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee are absolutely worth buying.
These games are incredibly fun to play. The two versions feature a few version specific Pokemon, but the main difference is your starter/partner Pokemon. These games have already sold more than 3 million copies, within their first week, and are continuing to sell as the Holiday Season progresses. Along with the Nintendo Switch itself, they will surely be a must have Holiday Gift this season.
The best part about these games is the graphics. A new shiny Kanto bubbling with nostalgia awaits players as they set out on a re-imaging of their first Pokemon adventure. Several characters from the anime and other games also make special appearances.
I have way too much to say about this game. I’ve already made this review longer than it needed to be. Pokemon Let’s Go is a fun must buy game for the Nintendo Switch. I highly recommend it to adults and children alike. It features a “couch co-op” mode for parents to play with their kids. And if you play Pokemon GO on your phone, you can send your Pokemon to this game.
