Raiding aka Running Heroics in SWG

In many MMO’s the word raiding is used to describe max level or end game content designed for co-op groups of players. In Star Wars Galaxies we call these repeatable group missions “heroics”. There are 6 heroics in total, and all of them can be found in New Aurilia Township on Dathomir. You can find you way to New Aurilia Township by landing at Dathomir Science Outpost, and then making your way SE. The exact waypoint is 5302 -4151.

Just type this exact phrase in your chat box and click enter: /waypoint dathomir 5302 -4151 Aurilia Township;

The entire town is surrounded by a strange mist, so it’ll be hard to miss.

Starting the Heroic Pre-Quests

It is worth noting that only players CL70 and above are allowed to enter New Aurilia Township. Players who have achieved Ace Pilot in any faction may also enter, but I do not see why you would want to. All of the heroics come with a set up pre-quests that must be completed to unlock the repeatable raid aka heroic group mission.

I recommend being CL90 (combat level 90) before attempting any of the Heroic Pre-Quests. The quests can be quite challenging, especially for new players. Luckily there are very detailed guides that can be found on the internet. Players can also group up to make these quests easier. (Pro-Tip: All of the quests have very high XP rewards, and can be used to level up quickly if players group with a level 90 friend)

What gear and stats should a player have to get started? Just use the best gear you can afford. I recommend having a high level weapon and a full suit of armor. It would also help to have 35’s, if you know what those are. If you do not know what those are, be sure to stay tuned for our “Guide to SWG Gear” coming soon. With that said, here is a list of all of the Heroic Pre-Quests.

Finding Groups to Run Heroics

Finding people to play with can be a challenge in many games. Playing on a well populated server with a good community will definitely make finding groups easier. I personally recommend the SWG Legends server.

SWG Legends Website: https://swglegends.com/

Aside from playing on a good server, here are a few other tips that may help:

* Join a Guild / Clan

* Invite RL Friends to Play SWG

* Join LFG (looking for group) or Heroic Chat Channels

* Keep an eye on General Chat

* Start your own group

My favorite way, and often the fastest way to get a group, is to make your own. Just go to Tatooine Mos Eisley, stand outside the Spaceport and shout: “LFM Heroics Group. PST with Profession.”

Reasons to Run Heroics

The primary reason to run heroics is for the Heroic Jewelry that players can purchase with Heroic Tokens. Each successful completion of a daily repeatable heroic grants 1 token. The token will match the heroic completed. Example: Tusken King grants a TK Token.

Players can collect these tokens and trade them in for profession specific jewelry sets. Each jewelry set provides special ability bonuses. Each set also consists of 1 necklace, 2 bracelets and 2 rings. The more matching jewelry pieces that a player has, the bigger the bonus.

Another reason to run heroics is to make credits (in game currency). Most player groups will set the loot to “roll”. Doing so allows players to roll for the specific loot that they want. Credits are divided up equally between all players, and every heroic drops quite a few credits.

A third reason to run heroics is for the loot. Every final boss has a chance to drop a variety of items. Here are just a few of the more notable loot drops to watch for. (Also, it is worth noting that these items can be sold more millions and millions of credits on the Bazaar)

IG: Dented IG Droid Head

* grants a temporary buff or debuff every 30 minutes

AK: Nightsister Carnage Beret Schematic

* a cool hat schematic

TK: Various Schematics

* Schematic: Elite Gaderiffi Baton

* Schematic: Elite Tusken Rifle

* Schematic: Rucksack of the Tusken King

ISD: Faction Specific Backpack

* Schematic for Rebel Ace Field Pack

* Schematic for Imperial Ace Field Pack

* Schematic for Pilot Ace Field Pack

EK: Exar Kun Mural

* a cool painting

Now this is by all means not a full list of all the loot dropped. The above mentioned are just a few of the more expensive and rare items that can drop. Some of these items, such as the Ace Field Backpacks from ISD can be sold for nearly 50 million credits on some servers. Please note that price may vary depending on the server population and community that you choose to play with. I base my pricing off of the SWG Legends server mentioned earlier in this article.
