A world of pirate adventures awaits!

Sea of Thieves is an open-world adventure game designed to let players experience life as a pirate. Explore the open ocean, find buried treasure, and sail among fellow pirates in an effort to amass a fortune of gold! With that said, this game is pretty much what it sounds like. Players get to sail around the ocean looking for treasure and completing missions for various pirate factions.

The majority of the game is spent sailing your pirate vessel across the Sea of Thieves. Players can steer the boat, adjust the sails, operate the anchor, and fire the many cannons. The water in Sea of Thieves is absolutely stunning. The graphics are beautiful and the mechanics feel realistic.

A pirate’s life is full of danger.

There are many dangers in Sea of Thieves. Skeletons roam the beaches of mysterious islands, sharks swim the ocean waters, and other players may be looking for a fight. Players are equipped with their choice of 2 weapons: Sword, Pistol, Shotgun, & Rifle. Players can switch load outs and reload at any outpost or boat. Each gun carries 5 rounds and swords have an alternate charge up attack. There are no cross hairs in the game, so combat can be a bit awkward at times.

Ship to ship combat is where Sea of Thieves shines. Blasting enemy boats with cannon balls, smashing into their vessel, and using whatever means necessary to sink them is a lot of fun. Bumping into rocks and boats causes holes, and holes fill the boat with water. Players can repair these holes with boards and bail the water with a handy dandy bucket, but someone still needs to steer the boat or you may end up running ashore!

Worth the purchase for some, but it’s not for everyone.

I have been enjoying playing Sea of Thieves with 2 friends. The game has a very relaxed atmosphere and reminds me of other make-your-own adventure games. I wish that this game was cheaper than $60.00, but alas it is not. I feel like the game was worth the purchase for me, but I would have a hard time recommending it at its current price point.

Aside from repeatable missions, faction points, and acquiring purely cosmetic items there isn’t much to do. The game is truly a make your own fun kind of game.
