Shang-Chi Movie Plot Review
Shang-Chi is the latest Marvel movie to hit the big screen. Shaun (Shang-Chi) is an expert at Kung Fu, who was trained by his parents at a young age. We find him living in America, and on the run from his father. Shang-Chi’s father Xu Wenwu is the head of a large criminal organization called the Ten Rings.Â
Xu Wenwu is basically an immortal with 10 powerful rings that he uses to lead and control his organization. Sean (aka. Shang-Chi) and his friend Katy, played by Awkwafina, barely escape Xu Wenwu’s assassins, and find themselves on a wild adventure to save the planet.
It turns out that Xu Wenwu is hearing voices which he believes to be his late wife. He wants his children’s help to free their mother from her eternal prison. The truth though, is that Shang-Chi’s mother was part of a warrior group charged with protecting the world from soul stealing spirit monsters. The voice in Xu Wenwu’s head is trying to trick him into releasing the monsters.
I won’t spoil the ended. That was already a lot to explain. The story / plot of Shang-Chi was unique enough, well written and enjoyable to watch unfold.
Thoughts on the movie Shang-Chi
Overall I liked the movie Shang-Chi. I would watch it again sometime. The acting was solid. Awkwafina was absolutely hilarious, like she always is. The plot sort of reminded me of Raya and the Last Dragon.
The action scenes were really cool. The movie had lots of Kung Fu fighting, and kept a good pace. I would rank the film about equal with most other Marvel films. Definitely give it a watch if you haven’t already!
