A throwback to the 90’s Spider-Man.
Into the Spider-Verse felt like watching a 90’s television cartoon. As a kid who grew up watching a lot of Spider-Man, I was excited to see this new movie. The title really says it all, as this movie is all about Spider-Men and Spider-Women coming together from different universes.
The newest Spider-Person is Miles Morales from Brooklyn. Miles’ father is a police officer and his uncle is quite the opposite. When Miles gets bitten by a radioactive spider his whole world turns upside-down.
Peter Parker plays a major role in this movie.
Miles and Peter meet up rather quickly, and Spider-Man agrees to train Miles. But their plans soon get interrupted by some unexpected guests. The rest of the movie gets a little wild and crazy.
Jake Johnson delivers a really funny performance as he brings the classic Spider-Man to life. Hailee Steinfield voices Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Woman, and is perhaps my favorite variation of Spider-People in this movie.
Miles Morales is a really cool character.
Miles Morales feels like Spider-Man. He has the New Yorker attitude and feel that Spider-Man is suppose to have. Miles is also funny and charismatic, which are both important traits for a Spider-Person.
I enjoyed this movie all around. I would watch it again, but not too often. Into the Spider-Verse is rated PG, but I would advise that kids under the age of 10 not watch it. It gets a little violent at times with punching, shooting and even killing. It’s more violent than any other Spider-Man cartoon, but not more violent than most Spider-Man movies.
Be sure to catch this new Spider-Man adventure as a rental. It’s worth a watch!
