Fox Mcloud joins the fight in Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

Starlink had a rather quiet launch in Fall of 2018. I didn’t even start hearing about it until around Christmas time. When I did finally look into it, I was very surprised to see Fox Mcloud and the StarFox team. Starlink: Battle for Atlas is a semi-open world space adventure. It reminds be of a mix between a traditional StarFox game and something like No Man’s Sky.

The game starts out on rails as it guides you through the first few missions. Then it starts to open up with more options. Players can explore different worlds, battle enemies, take on a variety of missions and even upgrade their ships.

Just when you thought “toys to life” was dead.

Games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity have varied in their success. This latest “toys to life” game offers people the opportunity to buy new toy spaceships, pilots and weapons. The Starter Pack(s) for Starlink come with a custom controller add-on that allow you to plug your toys into the game itself. Changing the ship, pilot or weapon attached to the controller mount allows players to switch between options.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is totally worth buying.

I’ve always been a fan of toys to life games, but Starlink is really something special. The developers have managed to capture the feel of a StarFox game, and combine it with an open world universe that is filled with fun things to do.

From battling robots, to collecting resources and even participating in space battles, Starlink really has a lot to do. I guess that it’s worth noting that like any game, Starlink can become a little repetitive at points. This however is expected, and that’s why new video games are always being made.

I’ve enjoyed every minute of Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

I find it hard to believe that this game is so inexpensive. You can pick up the entire starter kit, including the game for about $30 at Target, Wal-Mart or on Amazon. My thoughts are that the game did not launch as successfully as hoped, but that just means that you can get your hands on this amazing game for next to nothing. It’s literally half the price of most Nintendo Switch games.

It goes without saying at this point, but I highly recommend this game to anyone. Children will have an easy time figuring it out, and adults can still get lost in the vast world of Starlink: Battle for Atlas.
