Terra Nova – TV Review

Terra Nova is the best dinosaur TV show ever made.

The TV show Terra Nova is set in the year 2149. It depicts a dying world and a grim future for humankind. Hope is found though, when a portal to the past is discovered. Dr. Shannon and her husband Jim find themselves in a pre-historic world filled with dinosaurs and danger. Their family settles down in the town of Terra Nova, entrusted to Commander Nathaniel Taylor. Together with hundreds of other travelers, they set out to make a fresh start in the past.

A fresh start for humankind in Terra Nova.

Commander Nathaniel Taylor leads his community of time travelers in an attempt to build a fresh start. Terra Nova is a place for humans to start over, in the hopes of not destroying their world a second time. This time around though, the world is filled with dinosaurs. As if dinosaurs weren’t dangerous enough to live with, the inhabitants of Terra Nova also have to deal with unknown parasites, weather conditions and other unforeseen aspects of a pre-historic world.

Terra Nova has good acting and story-telling.

I found every episode of Terra Nova to be engaging, interesting and well-made. It instantly became one of my favorite shows, and I really wish that it had more than one season’s worth of episodes. I believe that the show was released at a bad time, and that if it were released in today’s culture, that it would thrive and see several successful seasons.

The dinosaurs look like something out of a Jurassic Park movie, and the acting is really well done. One of my favorite characters is Commander Nathanial Taylor, played by Stephan Lang, who also stars in the hit movie Avatar.

I have watched Terra Nova straight through twice now, and I will likely watch it again. There is nothing quite like it on TV. It can currently be streamed on Amazon Prime, so I advise watching it there. The pilot (first episode) is really good, and the show just builds from there.

I definitely recommend watching Terra Nova. I found it to be rather family friendly, but please watch it for yourself and decide. Thanks for checking out my review of Terra Nova, and be sure to check out other TV, Movie and Video Game reviews while you’re here!
