The Lost City is a romantic comedy about a successful book author named Loretta, and her novel’s cover model Alan. The two find themselves on an unexpected adventure, via kidnapping, that takes them to a tropical island mentioned in one of Loretta’s books.
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum make for an entertaining and unexpected romantic duo. There is also a surprise appearance by Brad Pitt early on the in the movie that is very funny. The Lost City had my wife and I laughing the whole way through.
The Lost City was surprisingly unique. I knew that it would be decent due to the talent involved, but it far exceeded by expectations. The movie kept a good pace the whole way through, and had a few fun twists along the way.

Brad Pitt plays an ex-military gun for hire named “Jack Trainer”. He shows up early in the movie and almost manages to rescue Loretta right out the gate. That would have been the end of the film, but Jack soon finds himself splattered across the jungle foliage leaving Loretta and Alan to fend for themselves.
The two main characters proceed to stumble their way through the jungle, managing to survive long enough to be captured again. The movie ends similarly to how Loretta’s latest romantic novel was suppose to end. Loretta and Alan find themselves in love and both inspired to be better versions of themselves.
I can see myself watching The Lost City again sometime. It was definitely worth a watch. It was also cool to see the specific set actors and actresses involved working together.
