Season 3 of The Mandalorian tries something new

If you haven’t seen the latest season of The Mandalorian, then you might be wondering how it stacks up to the prior two seasons. The short answer is that it the show continues to be fun and entertaining to watch.

The general consensus around the internet seems to be that Season 3 of The Mandalorian is straying away from what made it great in the first place. This latest season focuses less on Din Djarin, and more on all the side characters that have been accumulated throughout the show.

“The Mandalorian executive producer and director Rick Famuyiwa said that the show’s title was no longer just referring to the bounty hunter Din Djarin and, in fact, could apply to any Mandalorian the writers were focusing on.” – IGN

This quote above explains that this shift was intentional, and the audience definetly felt it. There were a lot more Mandalorians in Season 3 than any previous season. Bo-Katan spent almost every episode side-by-side with Din Djarin, and baby Yoda has a little less screen time than normal.

Regardless, Mandalorian Season 3 still gets a big thumbs up from Star Wars fans everywhere. Bo-Katan and the story of Mandalore is a favorite among the fan base, and the writers and directors know what they are doing.

Has The Mandalorian gone too far off course?

I am going to get almost political for a second here, but it’s my website so I can do what I want. Many shows on Disney+ have been accused of being politically charged and stuffed full of agenda. A show featuring a strong male character is not in line with Disney’s recent trend.

That is all I will say on the subject, but you are more than welcome to read between the lines.

Story Review of The Mandalorian Season 3

The overall story arc of this season was the recruitment of Mandalorians in an effort to take back the planet Mandalore. We got to see a lot of awesome Mandalorians all in one place.

The show featured a lot of returning characters as well, except Cara Dune. If you aren’t sure why she wasn’t included as a returning character just refer to the prior section above and read between those lines. Gina Carano, the actress who played Cara Dune was reprimanded for exercising her freedom of speech. She had opinions about politics that some people at Disney did not agree with.

Back to that story though, Din Djarin and baby Yoda (Grogu) are back! They team up with the rest of the Mandalorians to get their show hijacked, er I mean shared. There are some cool action sequences with blasters, jetpacks, and spaceships. There are a lot of easter eggs and throwbacks to fans of the Clone Wars Cartoon series.

If you haven’t watched the Clone Wars yet, I recomend going back and watching the episodes with Ashoka, Bo-Katan, Darth Maul, and the Death Watch. There are a lot of great episodes, but these ones pertain more to the stories being told in The Mandalorian Season 3.

Overall I enjoyed Season 3 of The Mandalorian. I recomend giving it a watch if you are still following the show. Star Wars is awesome after all!

Until next review… May the Force be with you!

ps. This is the way.
