A new HBO mini-series

Starring Oscar-winning Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, and Donald Sutherland, “The Undoing” was premiered on HBO on October 20, 2020.

The mini-series is directed by Emmy Award-winning Danish film director Susanne Bier, known to American audiences for “The Night Manager” (2016) and “Bird Box” (2018).

The Undoing – Story Summary

“The Undoing” is a story about a happy, successful, privileged family, and everything seems to be perfect in their lives. It shows us the idyllic life of Grace (Nicole Kidman) and Jonathan Fraser (Hugh Grant), and their young son. Grace, a successful family therapist, is beautiful, extremely empathetic; Jonathan, a pediatric oncologist, is loving and charming. Their son goes to an elite private school, Reardon. They naturally fit in this so unreachable, inaccessible, bohemian world of wealth.

But everyone has secrets. Their seemingly flawless world comes crumbling down after one of Reardon’s parents, Elena Alves (Matilda De Angelis), is murdered. In a dark, shocking way, “The Undoing” makes everyone look like a suspect and keeps asking, again and again, a depthless question of how well you know everyone around you. Throughout this physiological mystery thriller, the series highlights and explores the differences in privilege between two families – upper-crust Frasers and working-class Alves.

“The Bloody Truth” is the last episode in this mystery series aired in November 2020, whose end supposedly was kept a secret from the series’ crew and cast. After you watch the grand finale, you will understand why.

Overall thoughts on HBO’s The Undoing
