Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Tom Hardy returns as Venom in Let There Be Carnage!

The first Venom film starring Tom Hardy was a big success. It was both funny and unique. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a solid sequel. It explores both Eddie Brock and Venom as characters, and gives us a glimpse into what life would be like with a symbiote living inside one’s head.

Venom 2 is much darker than the original.

Being a comic book reader, television watcher, and video gamer, I came in knowing who Carnage was, and had a good idea of the sort of back-story he would receive. Even still, Carnage’s backstory was way darker than I thought it would be.

Cletus Kasady, played by Woody Harrelson, is the character that becomes Carnage. Cletus was abused as a child, kills his mother, and then becomes a serial killer. He then winds up in jail at the start of the movie. Eddie Brock comes to interview him, and in the process infects him with alien blood, turning him into Carnage.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage – Overall Thoughts

I like both Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson as actors, so this movie was definitely enjoyable to watch. It was however very dark, and I’m concerned that parents will take their young children to see it, without realizing just how intense it gets. Children do not need to be exposed to the adult elements in Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
