Wonder Woman is back for a sequel.

Be careful what you wish for. We all have dreams, but what would happen if our wishes actually came true?

Wonder Woman 1984 Story Summary

The year is 1984. Diana (Gal Gadot) still grieves for Steve (Chris Pine), fights petty crimes, and works at the Smithsonian Institution. One day she meets a new colleague, an awkward and nerdy Barbara (Kristen Wiig). Barbara is in charge of examining artifacts, and one of them is a mysterious crystal that makes your wishes come true.

Diana touches the crystal, and that brings back her true love Steve Trevor. Barbara starts changing as well, gaining incredible strength. Ambitious businessman Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) gets ahold of the stone, and the world begins to change.

Overall thoughts on HBO’s Wonder Woman 1984

I watched it on HBO Max when the movie was available for a preview. If you are a fan of DC Comics or you are looking for a light-hearted and kind movie, Wonder Woman 1984 will not disappoint.

It is very dynamic, entertaining, colorful, and light. It is about the lost love, fortitude, desire for power, fear, and love to our children. It also shows that love will always overcome evil.

In comparison with the first movie, Diana’s character feels so much more realistic and complex. The sequel movie is noticeably more emotional, sincere, and has a deeper meaning. It feels more like a philosophical and cautionary tale than a usual blockbuster.
