Universal finds a way to keep Jurassic World going.

Owen and Claire are back for another adventure in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It’s been a while since the park closed and now there is a once dormant volcano that threatens life on the island of Isla Nublar. The world is unsure if saving the dinosaurs from a second extinction is the correct moral choice, but that doesn’t stop Claire and Owen. They join up with a mysterious team of hunters to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from extinction before the volcano erupts.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is taking the story in a new direction.

When the first Jurassic World came out a few years back I was very excited to see the series rebooted. I’ve always been a big dinosaur fan, and there aren’t many good dinosaur movies out there. However, this latest installment into the Jurassic World / Jurassic Park series is definitely my least favorite of the films. I can’t help but like the movie for the dinosaurs. I also enjoy watching Chris Pratt act, as I like most of the movies he’s in. I just didn’t care much for the story lines in this particular Jurassic adventure.

(Plot spoilers ahead!)

There are a few different stories going on in this film. The main central story line is about rescuing dinosaurs. The secondary story line is about a young girl, which I won’t spoil for anyone. And finally there is a third story arc that connects with the first, which consists of selling dinosaurs on the black market.  There was really a lot going on in this movie. I felt like rescuing dinosaurs from the island of Isla Nublar could’ve been its own movie. The plot line with the girl and her “grandfather” could have also been it’s own movie.

I suppose that I liked this film. It was definitely worth at least one watch, but I hope that the next Jurassic World movie is better all around. It’s also worth mentioning that this movie leaves the story open for a third Jurassic World. I recommend giving Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom a watch, but I don’t think it’s worth a purchase. Perhaps when they release a box set I will buy them all.
