The Magnificent Seven (2016)

Summary & Thoughts:

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a western. This wild wild remake came out last year and it managed to do pretty well. There were a lot of big-name actors in it, and they all got to play good size parts. Denzel Washington plays the lead and assembles a band of misfits in an effort to protect a small town from thieves. What starts out as a brawl turns into a war with heavy casualties on both sides.

One of my biggest concerns about all movies with multiple main characters is that they can feel too cluttered and fast paced. But that was not the case in this movie. I felt that every character had their time to shine. We got to learn a little about their backgrounds, see them fight, and even watch some of them die. The overall story was straightforward. There are no great plot twists or secrets to spoil. It’s just a good old western remake.

I caught this film on Amazon Prime, and I recommend it as a good action film. It has a whole lot of killing and shooting, so I don’t advise letting children watch it. Mind the rating, and perhaps watch a trailer to get a good feel for what this movie has to offer.
