A classic story retold on the big screen.
The Call of the Wild follows the story of a dog named Buck. From his small town beginnings, to his adventures as a sled dog in the Yukon, ending with his eventual friendship of a man named John Thornton. The movie had good pacing, good acting and a great story. It was well worth the watch, and I could tell that it would be right from the start.
Harrison Ford gave a great performance.
Harrison Ford is one of my favorite actors, and I was hoping that the movie would revolve around him. I was surprised to see that he really only appeared in about half of the film, as the main character was Buck (the dog). Eventually the two of them do meet up, and we see their inevitable friendship unfold. Buck and John take a trip deep into the Yukon searching for themselves. Buck finds his inner dog; his wilder primal side. John realizes that he needs to return home to his wife. The two help each other grow along the journey, and the ending is one that you probably won’t see coming.
I definitely recommend watching The Call of the Wild. Whether you like animal/dog movies or not, it is still a good watch. The movie may be a little intense for younger audiences. There are a few moments of animal and human violence throughout the movie. Overall I give this movie a thumbs-up, and I would watch it again.
